SHOPPING AS A PLUS SIZE WOMAN ON BLOOMINGDALES.COM // luxury doesn't stop at your size

DRESS | BOOTS

This post is sponsored by Bloomingdales. All opinions are my own and this is a topic I was honored to share about. If you shop from these links I may get a small commission off of any product you purchase, which helps keep this blog going. Thank you!

Bloomingdales carries a lot of extended sizing and I bet you didn’t know that (because I didn’t either until this year)!! Today I am sharing this luxurious dress from Lafayette148. This is special to me because it is true luxury, made in my size (2x). As a plus size woman, I don’t often feel included especially in luxury clothing items.

SIZE INCLUSIVE SALE ROUNDUP // Anthropologie, J. Crew, Madewell, LOFT

It’s Columbus Day weekend, and a lot of retailers are having big sales. As a plus size woman - this can be so overwhelming! As we are transitioning into Fall weather, I like to be very intentional about the items I buy and why. This year we saw a lot of movement in the fashion industry towards more size inclusivity, and now would be a good time to try some higher quality clothing for really affordable prices. Like, we’re talking Target prices, people! A lot of these items also come in standard!

I’ve broken things down to hopefully make this super easy for you to shop.

ROUND-UP // FALL BOOTS YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO SNAG

HAT | SKIRT | TEE | JACKET | BAG | SUNNIES | BOOTS

My favorite season of all is HERE! One way I love adding dimension to my fall/winter outfits is by throwing on a cute pair of booties or tall boots. I don’t always need wide calf, so this round-up includes mostly wide calf but also a few non wide brands & styles I’ve tried that worked for me. Boots can be SO hard - especially if you’re like me. I need COMFORT, and I need them to not look ridiculous. Ha!

THREE THINGS I NEED IN A BOOT:

BRA REVIEW // the prettiest, basic t-shirt bra you didn't know you needed

This post is sponsored by Bare Necessities, a brand I tried and loved. Thank you for supporting House of Dorough. Anything you purchase from these links may give me a small commission.

It’s comfortable and you don’t have to think twice about it — that’s MY kinda everyday grab and go bra, honestly. I am loving this little bra review adventure I’ve been on for a few months! So when Bare Necessities reached out to me, of course I said yes… bras are SO hard, especially when you have had babies or gone through extreme weight loss or weight gain.

NYFW DAY/NIGHT 4 // what I wore + where I went in this ethically made dress

DRESS | SHOES | BAG

Before I go into detail about this ethically made plus size designer… let’s chat real quick about my Day 4 of fashion week. It was my last full day in NYC. That morning was “the morning” when I experienced all of this (click to read post), so for the afternoon I went back to the hotel and chilled for a little while. Then I pulled myself together, and made my way to Spring Studios to see two fashion shows. The first one was Chiara Boni la Petite Robe which was beautiful, but I was disheartened that they didn’t have any plus size representation on the runway (considering they do carry it, I was surprised).

STYLE SESSION // 3 WAYS TO STYLE WHITE JEANS FOR FALL

JEANS | SHOP ALL THREE LOOKS

Hey friends! Tonight I’m showing you how to take your white jeans from summer and wear them in the Fall. I am a big fan of wearing white ALL year! Why not? It can be so chic!

First things first, these are my favorite jeans to date and I just found them ON SALE FOR $83. I have tried a million and one pairs of white denim. These fit my curves and make me feel amazing. They normally retail for around $140. Sometimes in Good American I size up to a 20, but in these I take a size 18.

IT WAS MY FIRST TIME GOING TO THE CURVYCON // and here's what I wore and what I thought

SHOP ALL 3 LOOKS HERE

Anthropologie sponsored my trip to The CurvyCon this year, and I was more than honored to attend on their behalf. The CurvyCon was really amazing… since I was floating back and forth from NYFW events to CurvyCon events I noticed a stark difference.

If you read my post from yesterday, I talk about the fatphobic vibes that surrounded NYFW. It’s easy to feel defeated in those situations, but I gathered all of my video footage from the CurvyCon and I want you to watch it.

FATPHOBIA AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK // we have a lot of work to do

CARDIGAN | DRESS | BOOTS | SUNNIES | BAG

Before you see the word “fatphobia” and roll your eyes… don’t. Hear me out.

A year and a half ago, one of my readers responded to my Instagram story where I mentioned I hated the word FAT… and she straight up told me I was fatphobic. In the moment, I got defensive. I swiftly explained to her that the word FAT was extremely hurtful to me and caused me a lot of pain. And that I shouldn’t have to hear that word if I don’t want to.

WHAT I WORE // The jeans that actually changed my life...

JEANS | RUST TOP | SNAKE TOP | SILVER BOOT | TIGER BOOT

This post is sponsored by Bloomingdale’s, a brand I have genuinely loved for years. So excited to see them branching out in their extended sizing. This post also contains affiliate links.

I know I've shared some of this in the past and some of you may think Im being dramatic, but.... these jeans seriously changed my life.

I had worked really hard to become a "fit" version of me before getting pregnant.

THIS IS NOT A MOMENT, IT'S A MOVEMENT // A trip to the Anthropologie home office in Philadelphia, PA

If you’re new around here, you may not know that Anthropologie extended their sizing to include plus sizes last Spring. I was very impressed with my first fitting room experience (read about that here or watch it here). While I was there trying amazing clothing on that actually fit (tears!!) - one of the corporate team members was there and mentioned that the president of Anthropologie was actually behind APlus 100%.

BACK TO SCHOOL // Fashion Prep with Emmie

This post was sponsored by Stitch Fix, a brand I truly love. Thank you for supporting House of Dorough.

Back to school shopping… it is honestly one of my most favorite memories.  When I heard Stitch Fix was catering to kids now, I honestly had no idea what to expect. But you guys. I have fallen HARD for it. Ever since I saw my Emmie girl lay eyes on her first “fix” … it had to have been one of the cutest things ever. She was SO excited to get a fix just for her, and she loved the personalized note with stickers. She delicately opened each item and gave her review of it. It was so funny. Gah, I love this girl. Watch the video on IGTV here.

LETTING GO // with ThirdLove

If you’ve been following me for awhile this year, then you know that I’ve opened up about anxiety and depression a lot. Opening up about these things may be uncomfortable for some, but for me… it has helped me cope tremendously.

This Summer I have started spending more time outside, mainly because of the kids. By doing this, I’ve realized how grounding it is for me.

THE BEAUTY OF GETTING UNCOMFORTABLE

BIKINI TOP $4 | BOTTOMS $4

This post is paid for by Walmart, and also contains affiliate links. Thank you for your continued support of House of Dorough, and understanding I only share things I truly love with you.

Taking these photos wasn’t easy. I had to climb into a rocky river, knowing I’m not as strong as I used to be and knowing that I could easily slip and fall at any moment.

On top of that, I was wearing a two piece swimsuit which is never actually as easy as it looks. To be honest, two piece swimsuits are usually more comfortable for me because finding a one piece that fits my torso right is near impossible. But I am always a little more self conscious.
