Let's Talk Bellies and Bodies and Changes

ain’t no shame do your thang ✨

Let’s talk bellies and bodies and changes.

It’s really REALLY hard to explain this to anyone who hasn’t grasped yet that diet culture is dangerous, but I pray that one day this will click.

The truth is this: no matter what size you are, if you’ve lived in a smaller or larger body your entire life, or whether or not you’ve had acne, stretch marks, cellulite, double chins, wrinkles, gray hairs, etc. - these aren’t BAD things - we need to stop that narrative. They’re just THINGS.

One day, you’ll wake up and realize that NONE of it matters. What matters is that you’re able to live a happy and full life. Spending most of your days counting calories and following a weight loss plan may temporarily shrink your body, but it isn’t going to make you healthier or happier. If you’re like me, you might mistake these feelings of happiness with CONTROL. It can be a slippery slope. Been there, done that, for what feels like a mil times.

But know this: if you want to dye your hair, get a fake tan, get Botox, have plastic surgery, run a marathon, whatever it may be — do it for you, and no one else.

My body is a lot larger than it was last year.

Who knows what it will look like next year.

Who cares.

No matter what, I will always dress how I want to dress. I will always do what I want to do for MYSELF in regards to hair, makeup, tanning, anything. And if I want to go all natural, I will. If I want to get a boob job, I will. Because it’s not for you. It’s for me.

So yes, I’m gonna rock whatever bod I have while I’m fortunate to have it. That includes the phases in life when I may be larger, but also when I may be smaller. There is no phase in which I am any more worthy of happiness.

And that, my friends, is freedom.

Repeat this:

I am worthy. All the time.
My body is a good body. All the time.
My body deserves nurturing, care, and love through every phase of life. All the time.

Signed,
The girl who used to think showing her stomach would be the actual end of the world. Turns out, it’s just a stomach. 😉🤔 Don’t give any power to those lies in your head. All bodies are good bodies. Work on your inner self.
