ATHENS, GA // A SIMPLE TRAVEL GUIDE FOR THE 30-SOMETHING

TOP | LEGGINGS | SHOES | SUNNIES | CARDIGAN

Not in college anymore? Yeah, me neither. I can’t believe I’m saying this but, honestly, there’s so much more to Athens, Georgia than football. This little town… it will always hold a special place in my heart. I really kind of found myself here, so to speak. It took me awhile and several colleges, but once I landed in Athens I magically found my people and a college major I was passionate about (film and tv production).

My senior year of college, I met and fell in love with my husband. Needless to say = we LIVED IT UP our last semester. We graduated together which is such a special memory to me as well. But the biggest and best memory of all was our wedding! We got married at the Foundry right in the heart of downtown Athens.

TRY ON SESSION // WORKWEAR DOESN'T HAVE TO BE BORING

One of your biggest requests is now live! Today I teamed up with Rebecca from @mommyinheels to show you some looks that are workplace appropriate! Check out my IG story highlights for the full try on session. Below, I’ve linked everything! Most of these items are from LOFT, but I threw in a few pieces from elsewhere.

I am SO impressed with all of these things! I am wearing size 18-20, check out my story for full details on Instagram!

TRY-ON SESSION // A PLUS BY ANTHROPOLOGIE

DRESS | TOP | PANTS | EARRINGS | SKIRT | TOP

I’ve always stylistically aligned with Anthropologie but have never been able to shop there, so to speak. Sure, I could find the most fabulous kimono or pair of earrings or shoes. Or maybe a dress that ran big. But it was never a promise. This is a dream come true.

Today I visited the Avalon Anthropologie in Alpharetta, GA and I was so warmly welcomed by the staff. I was BLOWN. AWAY. by the selection. It felt like almost half of the store is plus size now. I cannot tell you how this feels to someone who knows what it’s like to go in a store and not be able to shop for yourself or feel included.

THE SWEATER BLAZER YOU DIDN'T KNOW YOU NEEDED

This post is sponsored by Talbots and Stylinity. Thank you for reading this and supporting House of Dorough.

I’m both a blazer lover and a sweater addict but I had NO CLUE I needed this sweater blazer in my life. Camel is a classic, rich color that I love to incorporate into any wardrobe. It reads well and basically goes with anything. My favorite kind of neutral, and Talbots’ version of it is beautiful and the quality is amazing. Today I’m showing you how to style this blazer 2 ways! I am wearing size 1X in the blazer for reference.

NYFW: PLUS SIZE CINDERELLA

DRESS | BELT | COAT | SHOES (dupe) | EARRINGS | NECKLACE | BAG

Saving the best for (almost) last… because this is my favorite. In the short history of House of Dorough, this is probably the most “me” look I’ve ever styled. When I was outfit planning for going to the CHROMAT fashion show (which was so diverse and so amazing, check my IG story highlights to see), I knew I wanted to wear this amazing coat by Tamara Malas. Often times, when picking a look, I start with one statement and then come up with the rest.

TRY-ON SESSION // WHITE JEANS

Hi, are jeans not the absolute worst sometimes? Make them WHITE and then it’s about a million times harder to find the right pair to fit your body.

Today I teamed up with several other bloggers to show you different styles on different body types and I hope you loved it as much as I did! Here are my honest reviews.

I wanted to share my thoughts and shopping details here so you can easily reference this again. Also I saved the actual try on in my highlights on IG.

YOU ASKED, I ANSWERED: MY PREGNANCY FAVES

This was my second full term pregnancy, and although I thought I knew it all the first time around… I really had no clue!! This time, with a full time blog business and a wild toddler running around… I was only able to focus on the essentials I needed during pregnancy. Which, to be honest, was kind of awesome.

NYFW: WHAT I WORE // SUPER WIDE LEG POWER SUIT

BLAZER | PANTS | CAMI | SHOES

As I walked down the streets of NYC, this 2-piece ensemble most certainly demanded respect and attention. So let’s just call it what it is: a power suit.

YESSSS. *All the praise hands*

I grew up watching my mom wear coordinating suits and I dreamed of doing that when I got older. Thank the LAWD they are back! If there’s one thing that TERRIFIES me it’s wide leg ANYTHING.

MY SIZE AT FASHION WEEK // a NYFW photo series

Babes of all shapes and sizes now have a seat at the FASHION WEEK table.

When I decided to try and go to New York Fashion Week this February, I wanted to go with purpose. I’ve always dreamt of going, but what if I went and didn’t belong?

The stylist part of me would surely fit in, because I’ve been helping design costumes and wardrobe for film/tv for years and I just geek out over fashion in general. But the style blogger part of me thought… would I really have a place on my platform for these sorts of runway shows? Would my audience that I’ve worked so hard to genuinely build feel a little less empowered by seeing women that might not represent their body types on the runway?

PINK + RED // NOT JUST FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

JACKET | SHIRT | BELT | BAG

Hi, my name’s Ashley and sometimes I just want to wear all of my favorite colors at once. CAN YOU BLAME ME THO? True story: I wear pink and red together on all occasions… it’s my own crazy personal preference, but I love it. I thought today would be a good day to share this look from NYFW that I love, because it’s Valentine’s Day and this cute little shirt says “AMOUR!” on it. NAILED IT am I right?!

WHAT I WORE // DISTRESSED DENIM + LEOPARD BOOTIES

JACKET // TOP // LEGGINGS // BOOTS // SUNNIES // TOTE

First of all… let me just get this out of the way. The cut-out side of these boots IS SLAYING ME. It is so flattering what it does to your ankle and your leg. I’m in love! I’m also utilizing the theory that “leopard is a neutral” here - and in this case, I thought it brought out the warm colors of the shirt perfectly.

I rarely throw a cropped jacket with leggings, but today I’m showing you it’s possible!

STYLE HAS NO SIZE // DENIM TRENCH + EYELET TOP

Today I’m sharing a look I styled alongside Mireille from City Peach, my fave babe to team up with! This STYLE HAS NO SIZE features one of my favorite wardrobe items: A TRENCH COAT. Not just any trench though… a denim one.

I remember getting my first denim trench coat probably about 6 years ago and there was just something about it I fell in love with. I love the dramatic length that a trench coat brings to a look, first of all. But then denim makes it so different than anything your used to seeing in that style.
